The primary target group of Quahvet project consists of: Guidance counselors from High VET providers, Guidance-Teachers from High Schools, Guidance counselors from public and private employment centers, municipal social operators, and youth workers supporting NEETs. Which is their role in High Vocational Education and Training (HVET)?
As HVET landscape changes with rapid pace due to technology evolution, the role of guidance counselors couldn’t be more significant. They are not just counselors, they are mentors in guiding students and diploma holders into successful career paths. They help them by giving all the up-to-date information concerning suitable vocational programs and market demands that align with the different interests, skills and goals students have. Counselors have to collaborate with students in order to select the appropriate courses and certifications required, identifying opportunities and drawing a map of the future steps to be made towards achieving the proper career path. Their continuously evolving knowledge and contemporary information of workforce landscape can empower students to take the right decision for their educational journey.
Guidance counselors and teachers are those who will give the example of lifelong learning, the key to embrace new learning models, technologies and digital tools and become competitive in a job market that is changing rapidly. On the other hand, counselors have to be able to provide emotional and psychological support to students in order to face academic pressure and ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all.
Quahvet acknowledging the significance of guidance counselors in HVET comes to empower them and give them concentrated and comprehensive information through the Digital Gateway, one of the most important deliverables of the project.
