What are some prejudices that students and teachers have regarding HVETs? We asked them, and these were their main answers.
- “It’s a second-class choice when compared to University”. HVETs and Universities are both valid options when it comes to post-diploma training. None is better than the other, and it all depends on the career each student would like to pursue once they enter the workforce. Meaning, the first-class choice is always the one that gives students the highest amount of skills that will help them obtain their dream job more easily.
- “There are no career opportunities”.
Professionals trained by HVET Institutions are highly specialised technicians. Soft and hard skills are both equally valued, with practical training as a key actor. This type of training is well-regarded by companies, which are increasingly seeking practical skills in their employees, and not only theoretical knowledge.
Among QUAHVET’s goals is to thwart such prejudices and shed more light on High Vocational Education and Training.
