Bridging the Gap: QUAHVET Project Enhances Career Guidance for High VET Programs in Europe

QUAHVET is a European project under the umbrella of ERASMUS+ in the field of Vocational and Educational Training (VET) that involves 6 organizations from 4 EU countries: Italy, Sweden, Spain and Greece.

The project aims to inform and encourage students to choose post-secondary vocational education and training schools through the development of specialized models to enhance the process of career orientation.

As we experience the technological advancements of Industry 4.0 we are witnessing companies seeking for candidates with skills related to key enabling technologies as well as the rise of professions requiring medium to high levels of qualification. On the other hand more and more students choose higher levels of education (universities) so as to obtain better professional rehabilitation. There is a gap of awareness of what an HVET (5th level of EQF) program can provide. They are unaware of the types of qualifications, jobs, salaries as long as the high rate of employment of the graduates.

In response to the above, the project aims to develop the following priorities:

  • Improving quality assurance in VET.
  • Contributing to innovation in VET.
  • Increasing attractiveness of VET.

QUAHVET acknowledges the gap of information as well as the possibilities given from an HVET program and aims to achieve the objective of enhancing participation in EQF5 HVET pathways by raising awareness among high school students, graduates and diploma holders.

The specific objectives of the project are:

  1. Enhancing the quality and inclusivity of HVET guidance through:
  • Integration of Outbound and Inbound Guidance.
  • Implementation of Inbound Guidance based on quality criteria, emphasizing processes and engagement of various stakeholders (schools, businesses).
  1. Increasing awareness among high school counselors about the HVET pathways system and its prospects.
  1. Fostering enhanced cooperation skills, based on quality standards, between high school counselors and HVET counselors.

The project intents to create a pathway to excellence in HVET education and to achieve it will address to the following target groups:

  • Guidance counselors from high VET providers.
  • Guidance teachers from high schools
  • Guidance counselors from public and private employment centers, municipal social operators, and youth workers supporting NEETs.
  • Graduating high school students (EQF 4).
  • NEETs with an EQF 4 diploma and university dropouts

Amazing people are working on the project and its activities. The participant organizations form the following list:

  1.  Il mio lavoro (IML) – Italy
  1. ITS Scienze della vita (ITS) – Italy
  1. Fulkuniversitetet (FU) – Sweden
  1. HETEL (HE) – Spain
  1. p-consulting.gr – Greece
  1. University of Peloponnese (UOP) – Greece

The partnership will implement the following results:

  1. A Multi-stakeholder Guidance System, founded on quality assurance and evidence-based practices, comprising a guidance model and a web application for data entry and processing related to the dimensions defined in the model.
  1. The H-VET Digital Gateway, featuring informational resources on the HVET system and its prospects, along with a digital platform providing access to these resources and digital Open Educational Resources (OERs) targeted towards guidance counselors.

To choose the right pathway of education is one of the most important decisions you have to make in your life and this project is focusing on building bridges to opportunity and ensuring every step counts in the High Vet journey.
